About Mary

CHARACTER. INTEGRITY. TEMPERAMENT.

Mary’s professional experience is extremely diverse, from working for the Caddo Parish Indigent Defender’s Office in the Juvenile Court to litigating civil and criminal jury trials in state and federal court and working through complex issues in domestic litigation cases.

Her legal background, work as a volunteer pro bono attorney and involvement in community organizations has instilled in her a sense of empathy, compassion, fairness and understanding that will carry over into her work as Caddo Parish’s next District Court Judge.

Mary is married to Steve Cash and they celebrated 26 years of marriage in April. They’re the proud parents of twin daughters, Mary Alice and Martha Ellen Cash, who are alumnae of Caddo Magnet High School and recent graduates of LSU.

EXPERIENCED. Fair. Impartial.

The First Judicial District Court for Caddo Parish has three divisions: civil, family, and criminal. Each division is divided into sections with civil and family having three sections each and criminal having five sections. The judges choose which division they will preside over based on seniority. The judges that are currently hearing civil matters have seniority status and will more than likely continue to remain in the civil division after the 2020 election. The next elected judge will be assigned to the family or criminal division. Proven Experience in these areas of the law matter. Mary’s 29 years of practicing in the areas of family, juvenile, criminal law has prepared her to serve the citizens of Caddo Parish.
